Senior dog, Henry, is healing and touching hearts
We’ve been catching up with some of the 124 sweet seniors and special needs pets that received an extra helping hand from our team over the past 12 months. These were the unluckiest and loneliest of hearts that found themselves homeless through no fault of their own, and, thanks to the support of our generous donors, we were able to give them the very best chance of finding a forever home.
Henry (nee Fred) was one of those precious seniors. And this is the story of his new family, who found joy after suffering the loss of a fur child…
“We were grieving the loss of our beloved Great Dane, Astroboy, and were initially very hesitant about adopting this 10-year-old senior from Greyhound Rescue, fearing that we would not have him for long. As it turned out, Fred (now Henry) has been an absolute delight to be with,” says adopter, Russell.
“Like all greyhounds, he is a gentle and calm dog who’s very connected to his humans. And like all older dogs (and much the same as older people) Henry is a creature of habit, so we stick to a structured routine to help him feel secure.
“However, in spite of his age, Henry has actually grown younger in the time we’ve had him! He progressively grows more lively, more affectionate, and more keen to go out for drives and walks every day.
“We love Henry dearly, and hope to enjoy sharing our life with him for as long as possible.”
