About Pickles
Pickles is nothing less than a super star of resilience. He found himself in a rural NSW pound after being removed by the RSPCA for being locked under a house with no water or food for an unknown period of time.
He was skin and bone, starving and needed immediate rescue to help him survive. A week after coming into care Pickles became unwell and was rushed to the vet, confirming he had Parvo and hence had another battle to survive.
Yet his resilience, zest for life and fondness of his new found beginnings meant he battled on to recover to full physical health.
The deprivation and trauma from his past can still mean that new and/or overwhelming situations can become challenging for Pickles. During such an episode, Pickles can regress and show signs of possible neurological trauma as a result of his past experiences.
Despite this, care, nurturing and clear boundaries assist him in moving past the obstacles that at times step in his way. He can be easily encouraged back into a place of trust and balance.
As Pickles progresses in his recovery and development of being a dog who is safe, loved, socialised, fed, housed and cared for, he is looking for a family who can assist him in his recovery and rejuvenation as a dog who no longer has anything to worry about in life.
In return, Pickles loves those who he trusts. He is good with other dogs, pups and children. Pickles would be best suited to a home where he can have his people around him, however, he does cope on his own for periods of time. He is always grateful when his family returns.
If you feel that you can offer Pickles the home that has previously eluded him due to no fault of his own , then please reach out. He will be an amazing addition to your family and will love you unconditionally.
Adoption details
To enquire about a dog in foster care please email the foster carer in the first instance (using the contact details listed with the dog's description).
The foster carer needs to know about you, your family, and any other pets, about your lifestyle and accommodation, and about the type of dog you want, so that they can help work out if the dog you have selected is right for you.
For dogs, foster carers will also carry out a 'home check' where we look at fencing and shelter for the dog to make sure they are adequate, and advise on anything that needs to be done to make sure your dog will be safe and comfortable.
